![]() WEDNESFIELD based Corus has won one of the UK’s most prestigious manufacturing accolades – the Manufacturer Award for Leadership and Strategy. Corus Distribution and Building Systems was given the award, part of a scheme created by the Manufacturer magazine to celebrate manufacturing best practice, for its implementation of the ‘Corus Way’ programme. Backed by a commitment to continuous improvement and implemented during the last five years, the programmes were quoted by judges as best practice examples of how inspirational leadership and the adoption of a clear strategy can dramatically impact upon business performance. Corus beat four other finalists to win the award. Alastair Aitkin, Managing Director of Corus Distribution & Building Systems UK and Ireland, said: “The culture of our business has changed dramatically during the past five years thanks to the new strategy and the commitment of employees at every level. Our employees have been key to our success and this prestigious award recognises that without their involvement and commitment the improvements made would not have been possible.” Corus was also praised by judges for the quality of its internal communications, focus on health and safety and the way it translated overall business goals into individual goals to ensure ownership at a local level. The company’s continuous improvement (CI) programme which trained 250 employees to become CI coaches and helped embed a culture of continuous improvement was also commended | |
