It's a family affair for Corus

WEDNESFIELD based Corus held its first ever ‘family day’ on Saturday for Steelpark based employees and their families.  Around 1000 people attended the event which also raised more than £8,000 for four Midlands charities – Wolverhampton’s Compton Hospice for terminally ill patients, the Acorns Children’s Hospice for children, the Motorneurone Disease in Sport Trust and New Cross Hospital’s Accident & Emergency.

The company held the event at its Steelpark headquarters, organising factory tours for families as well as using local suppliers to host activities ranging from bungee trampolining, prize draws and fairground dodgems to a buckaroo, donkey rides and a penalty shoot-out.  Directors and other staff were even invited to participate in the Steelpark talent show which proved the perfect showcase for the numerous singers and guitars players working in the company!

Alastair Aitken, Managing Director of Corus Distribution & Building Systems UK and Ireland, said: “We wanted to give something back to our employees, their families and the community at large. By combining a day of family entertainment with fundraising for local charities we were able to say a big thank you to everyone who works with us and also to benefit people in the wider local community.”
