Grantham has a new Iron Lady

Grantham used to be famous for a certain ‘iron lady’ but now it’s got its very own ‘woman of steel’.

Donna White (age 43) heads up the new Trade Counter at Corus Service Centre on Grantham’s Spittlegate Industrial Estate which is already proving a winning formula with customers across Lincolnshire and the East Midlands.

This new facility promises to supply customers with any size steel requirement. A cut and collect service, all on the same day, is also available and any sizes or pieces not in stock can easily be ordered in. And it’s Donna who does everything – from taking the initial order, to cutting the steel and even loading it into your van!

She explains: “It’s the ultimate flexible service because we can cut and supply what you want, when you want it – whether it be columns, beams, joists or anything in between. Our target market is farmers, builders, small engineering and construction firms, plus keen DIYers - all of whom need their steel same day and with a very quick turnaround.”

Donna is fully qualified to use the saws and cranes that help her complete orders smoothly and efficiently and in this niche sector is keen to challenge the perception that Corus only deals with big steel users.

She has been in the steel business for 25 years, always at Spittlegate Industrial Estate where she began as a filing clerk before progressing into invoicing, sales account management and production planning.

Donna adds: “It’s given me both an operations and a commercial perspective and I’m sure this will be invaluable in dealing with the many types of customer we will get at the Trade Counter.”
